Priorities

I am willing to do most anything in pursuit of a noveling career: writing, reading, reviewing, revising, kissing ass, querying, blogging, tweeting, social networking, anti-social networking, white-lying, dark-magicking, or simply munkeying around, I’ll do anything short of bold face lying, stepping on my fellows, or sacrificing my family’s needs.

I am dedicated to having a writing career: I therefore write, read, review and revise my work while blogging and tweeting to build a platform and never losing sight of my family's needs.

In order to create a better experience for my readers, I write, read, review, and revise my work. Blogging and tweeting are also important. As always, my family comes first.

I am willing to do what it takes in pursuit of becoming a better writer, husband, and father.                                                                                                      I'll try to blog

Compelling stories, compelling lies. I love my family.                                            blog

Create the unforgettable. Love thy family.                                                                    blah

Love thy family, love thy writing.

Love thy passions.

There... that’s better.

What are your priorities?

Munk's opening line
PhotobucketThe depths to which Lucifer fell,
can no more be judged by meters or miles,
than his hell can be measured by mercury's rise.
Munk's "Opening Line" is yours to keep, use it. Munk

Susan Kaye Quinn gave me a nod this week and here's a hearty nod back... she has a book release planned for November 1... Open Minds is the first title in the Mindjack Trilogy... I'm ordering one. Are you?

This week: rock as it was meant to be rolled.
Bob Seger, Get Out of Denver (Baby Go)
Up walked a Baptist preachin' southern funky school teacher... (I think)

What are my priorities? Lately, just over-eating.

Anymore, I focus on enjoying life.

Munk, I read a comment of yours over at Jayne's and had to come meet you. I'm following the same path, blogging, tweeting, writing, querying, rewriting, and so on...
I'm on my second novel.
I'm a writer. So there it is. The things we must do to get our words read.
I like your words.

Yeah, just trying to enjoy life.

Love me some Seger.

Munk, you have such a distinct manner of expressing yourself. It's centering for the reader.

Liked the musical interlude, Munk. Rock n Roll stays in the blood.

Priorities - writing of all sorts, getting ready for attending a writing conference, and always family.

@dbs-careful, too many carrots can turn your toes orange.
@MM-anymore?... sounds ominous M. keep the good peace.
@LG-Thanks for stopping! And yes, Paul Simon's lyrics sing. I like your words as well.
@LGS- Luanne, please meet Mohamed, Mohamed, may I present Luanne.
@Get out of Denver baby, go! Thank you.
@DG-Like you, I was probably born with some in mine. Good travels at the conference.

I can sure relate to this as I sit here alone writing--wishing I was actually fooling around with my family and friends. I think this is God's way of disciplining me. I'm out here in the desert 120 miles from a major civilization. I've put in my corporate greed time. I'm supposed to write, but I miss my family.

This post is such a true testament to the path of proper prioritization for the writer who can't afford the starving artist lifestyle. To end up with "Love thy passion" sums it up just nicely.

Well said. It reminds me of this bit of wisdom from Toni Morrison:

There were only two things without which I couldn’t live: mother my children and write books. Then I cut out everything that didn’t have to do with those two things.

My priorities:

- living an interesting and meaningful life (which includes reading, writing, travelling and the daily consumption of great chocolate)

- my husband, who is one of the most brilliant and fascinating people I've ever met

- friends and family, even though I never manage to see them enough

My priorities are my family and teaching. I'm focusing more on teaching this year and thus, my writing, my book anyway, has taken a backseat. I can't take time from my family, and with a renewed sense of urgency at school, there has been less time for my book.

Munkeying around? I figure there's lots of that going on at your house.

My priorities are always family and work, but my person passion is with writing. Balance, balance. Off balance, usually, but I keep trying.

Oh, I like the way you made that blog, blog... tear down. You are the cleverest Munk I've ever known. ;)

Mothering and munkeying definitely. My muses wouldn't have it any other way.

@ D and @C - glad to meet you both, not sure what was up with blogger over the weekend. I had the same problem on other sites.
@J-and just how many Munks do you know?

Do I follow you on twitter? I don't think I've ever seen a tweet by you. I must change that now.

Thanks for the plug!

Love thy passions.
That totally works for me.

Whenever I stray from my passions (family, writing), my subconscious sends me these really nasty dreams, a mental smack on the back of the head, as it were. Really annoying. But effective. :)
